"Gentlemen, you have a race"...
... is the famous starting signal for the legendary Reno Air Race, which has been held in Nevada for many years.
I was looking for a race plane for a long time and finally found the "Wanna Play II", which Tom Aberle flew to victory in 1989 with the starting number 40 in the classification Biplane. There were only a few pictures and information about the original to be found, which I used as a template for the replica, but I think I came relatively close to the original. I deliberately did not design the model as a pure racer, but used slightly thicker wings to get very pleasant all-around flying characteristics.
Don't be fooled by the small wingspan of 1100 mm, with the length of almost 1200 mm and the voluminous fuselage you have a stately model in front of you, which also needs a bit more printing time. But you can be sure to move a unique model through the air that looks spectacular. A special highlight is the main landing gear with active suspension, which makes takeoffs and landings on the grass runway easy.
The flight characteristics can be described as easy, little throttle is needed and the Wanna Play II glides amazingly well. Nevertheless, it is especially recommended for pilots who already have experience with similar models. Most of this model is built with the Planeprint PROFILE 5_Gyroid and LW-PLA and as long as you use light colors, it is very suitable for everyday use and insensitive to hot temperatures.
So what else is there to say – "Gentlemen, you have a race!"
